Looking out of the window right now brings back strong memories of our summer party, which took place about two weeks ago. We imagined that day to be warm and sunny. But shortly before the arrival of our first guests, it looked exactly like it does now: grey and way too humid.
On June 9 th 2017, the companies terrestris and mundialis hosted their annual summer party under the motto “bratwurst, beer and GIS”. One aim of the event was to encourage networking and the exchange of information, which was positively accepted by all guests. The party was launched with an exciting and varied presentation program, which represented the event’s GIS-related part, even though not all presentations were directly
connected to the topic of geoinformation.
The first guests arrived at 1 pm and immediately got the exclusive chance to admire our newly created satellite artworks, which were exhibited at the Stadthaus Bonn in June. At 2 pm sharp, Till Adams, CEO of terrestris and mundialis, officially welcomed all of the party’s 50 guests. Following this, the guests listened to the first of five exciting presentations about GIS- and region-related topics. Here, a detailed list of the presentations:
- “Established Products, Standards and New Trends from the Open Geospatial Consortium”
Athina Trakas, Open Geospatial Consortium - “From Zero to Hero”
Ivan Ryzkov, Digital Hub Region Bonn - “Cropwatch – an Information System for Process-control and -analysis in Plant Production”
Dr. Henrik Schumann, Bonn University - “Development of a Modular Web-GIS for Universal Application at Deutsche Telekom”
Torsten Drey , T-Systems - “GIS & Geo-activities in and around Bonn”
Dr. Ulrich Ziegenhagen, Bonn Economic Development Office
In the course of the presentations, the weather’s mood improved, which led to rising temperatures in the lecture hall. Therefore, our technical manager Marc Jansen provided our guests with freshly tapped Kölsch in-between presentations.
Accordig to protocol, every speaker was rewarded with a bottle of exclusive beer.
Right on time for the end of the GIS-section, the sun emerged completely. Therefore, the second part of the event, networking in a relaxed atmosphere, could take place in our courtyard.
This second part also fulfilled our expectations to create a regional forum for the getting to know of and exchange between regional actors, customers, friends and business accociates. As a result, nothing stands in the way of a continuation of the event in the early summer of 2018.
Following, you find a number of impressions of our summer party “bratwurst, beer and GIS”.
