From terrestris, Hinrich Paulsen will present the geoportal developed jointly with project partners on site and hand it over to the Mongolian project partner Environmental Database Division, a department of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.

In the last days the geodata in Mongolian productive server were cleaned up and synchronized with the server located in Germany. This guarantees the use by the project partners, so that the content of the dynamic portal can grow and be further developed.

In addition to various discussions with the project partners on site, the preparation of the presentation by Dr. Sarantuya and Hinrich Paulsen on the above topics was in the foreground.

The wrap-up conference last week was a complete success, because among other things the MoMo geoportal could be handed over to the Mongolian partners.

About 200 participants from Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Russia and of course Germany exchanged intensively about the water situation in Mongolia during 2 days by means of lectures and workshops. The German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as sponsor of the project was represented by a 5-member delegation that expressed great satisfaction with the results of the project. Following the two days of the conference, further discussions were held with the Mongolian and other partners, as knowledge was gained within the framework of the project, but of course the actual work needs to be continued in the future.

The efforts of a 2-day, very intensive conference were compensated by a hike in the Mongolian steppe, which tempted some to speak of a ‘workation’, i.e. a combination of ‘work’ and ‘vacation’ at summer temperatures around 30°C and the radiant sunshine usual for Mongolia.
