FOSS4G 2018 publishes main conference program

This year’s FOSS4G 2018 will take place from August 27, 2018 to September 02, 2018 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The program of a FOSS4G is essentially shaped by the community itself, and there is a community voting. The program committee of the D-LOC (Dar es Salaam Local Organising Committee) has now published the program well in advance of the conference.

We are pleased to announce that our contribution to the conference has been accepted by the program committee. At the end of August, Till Adams will present “Approaches to WebGIS in times of unstable or weak Internet connections” on new developments from terrestris. When submitting the presentation, a special focus was placed on the local conditions in southern Africa. In general, we see the use of open source and the associated knowledge building as an opportunity for the entire region. Scarce financial resources can thus be invested locally in capacity building and local geodata infrastructures in a meaningful way. We want to contribute to this goal with our contribution.

You can find the overall diverse program, which also includes contributions from many local speakers, here. If you are planning a trip to FOSS4G, it is best to secure your tickets today! The Early Bird phase has been extended, and discounted tickets can still be purchased here until June 5, 2018.

We would be delighted to welcome one or two of you in Dar es Salaam in August.
