The kick-off meeting for Phase 2 of the MoMo project took place in Mongolia on September 21 and 22, 2010. For terrestris, the aim was to get to know the Mongolian project partners and to inform all project participants about the work to be carried out by terrestris over the next 3 years. Afterwards, the program included getting to know the investigation area in the Sognogor Valley. This valley is located in the upper part of the Kharaa catchment area and the work there is intended to provide information about the hydrology.

For this purpose, a weather station has recently been installed, which is to be expanded next year with additional stations and gauges. This measurement campaign is supplemented by stations near Darkhan, where various project partners are working on the urban water management of the city and special water and wastewater problems of the Ger settlements. This part of the almost 15,000 km² investigation area was also visited.

Overall, the 2-week trip provided a good overview of the situation in Mongolia and the upcoming work. The next trip to Mongolia is planned for early summer 2011.
