Last week, terrestris participated in the 4th Geodialog of the Geobusiness Region Bonn, which took place in the Gobelin Hall of the Bonn City Hall. The event was very well attended, and two presentations were particularly well received by the audience:

• Dr. Eike Wenzel, head of the Institute for Trend and Future Research, gave a presentation on the “Megatrend Digitalization”, presenting many exciting insights and providing plenty of material for discussion during the subsequent social gathering. Since our daily work takes place in a digital environment, we also know firsthand the incredible speed at which these processes take place. What is new and innovative today is often already established technology a year later. It gets really exciting when these trends open up new business areas or make existing business models obsolete.
• The presentation by Lorenz Matzat from Firma lokaler in Berlin on the topic of “Geoinformation and Journalism” was also very well received. We, too, often deal with data that has an implicit spatial reference and that can be displayed on a map with a few tricks and tweaks. The more people realize that their data is also geodata, the more diverse and exciting applications can be created.

Overall, a successful evening with many thought-provoking impulses.
