terrestris, represented by Till Adams, will give a presentation on “The web map as a working basis: Simultaneous editing” in the “Innovations from Companies” block at the Munich GI Round (http://www.rtg.bv.tum.de/index.php/en/gi-runde) on February 24/25, 2016.
A web-based tool for the joint and simultaneous editing of a digital map will be presented, similar to what is known from text editors such as GoogleDocs or Etherpad. In practice, this means that people sitting in different locations can simultaneously draw objects, insert labels, or use any other editing function. The new tool is also embedded in a fully functional cloud GIS that offers the ability to upload geodata, integrate external WMS, switch layers on and off, and provide many other common GIS features.
terrestris GmbH & Co. KG is currently developing this complete solution for the American company Apollo Mapping, which will market it under the name “MapMavin” as a cloud-hosted WebGIS solution starting in 2016. After creating an account, users can upload, edit, and publish their own geodata.
MapMavin is built 100% from Open Source components such as PostGIS, GeoServer, SHOGun, and OpenLayers.
