On May 4, 2016, we from terrestris and mundialis celebrated the dedication of our new office space at Kölnstraße 99 in Bonn in a small setting.
After a champagne reception in beautiful spring weather outdoors, the event continued in the large conference room. Managing Director Hinrich Paulsen gave the official welcome and briefly introduced terrestris to the numerous guests, including Ulrich Ziegenhagen from the Bonn Economic Development Office and Athina Trakas, Director for Europe at the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). Subsequently, Markus Neteler, as Managing Director of mundialis, presented how the company, founded in the summer of 2015, will bring together remote sensing and web-based geodata services in the future, and what benefits will arise from this.
Till Adams, Managing Director of terrestris and mundialis, then summarized in a spirited short presentation how the international FOSS4G conference will take place in Bonn from August 24-26, 2016. He serves as Chairman of the global meeting of Open Source GIS developers and users at the WCCB, the former Bundestag on the Rhine.
Finally, Carmen Tawalika provided initial insights into the latest development from mundialis. This involves a web-based application that allows users to select data from the new Sentinel remote sensing missions with a mouse click and initiate standardized analyses, for example, to automatically create a vegetation index (NDVI) or atmospheric index. The desired satellite images are calculated directly from the raw data of the ESA. The access possibilities to such data are thus dramatically reduced from several days or even weeks to only a few hours.
The small dedication ceremony then came to a close with Kölsch beer, sausages, salads, and the last rays of sunshine of the day in front of the new domicile of our companies.
