From June 26 to July 2, this year’s global FOSS4G Conference will take place in Prizren, Kosovo. For those who are frantically searching for Prizren on the map of Europe, it should be said that the conference will be held in a historically significant location, as it will take place on the site of the former German KFOR protection force, which was present there in the Prizren field camp between 1999 and 2018. After the military withdrew, the site was handed over to the Kosovar civil authorities and is now being developed into the Innovation and Training Park (ITP) Prizren with the help of GIZ.
After the State of the Map Conference South-East Europe (SOTM SEE) was held in the ITP in 2019, FOSS4G is now following. terrestris was represented at the SOTM SEE by Till Adams and will also be represented at this year’s FOSS4G by Jan Suleiman. The program of the conference was recently published. Jan will contribute the following presentations to the program:
The conference is organized by FLOSSK, the Kosovar Local Chapter of OSGEO. The FLOSSK team had already gained experience in organizing an international conference with the SOTM SEE. terrestris is also supporting the upcoming FOSS4G as a Bronze Sponsor.
