The JavaScript framework GXM (GeoExt Mobile) developed by terrestris is already being used successfully in many applications for mobile access to geodata. Swisstopo, the operator of the Swiss Confederation’s geoportal, relies on GXM to implement the mobile version of the geoportal.
So far, GXM appears in version 0.1, which is based on Sencha Touch 1.1.0 and provides essential functions of a mobile WebGIS. However, high demand and rapid further developments of the underlying libraries (in particular Sencha Touch) as well as the mobile devices require a constant further development of GXM.
Swisstopo has now commissioned terrestris to bring GXM to version 0.2 and to update the existing mobile.map.geo.admin application to the extended architecture. In addition to an update to Sencha Touch 2, the new release will also include new functions such as FeatureList and FeaturePopup.
