The 2nd day of the terrestris Codesprint in Palma de Mallorca also brought many important insights and valuable results regarding open source geotechnologies. To initiate an OWS test environment, which will be made publicly available after the codesprint, three identical Web Map Services (WMS), based on various implementations (GeoServer, UMN Mapserver and QGIS Server), were initially set up, including acceleration by means of tiling. After all, who doesn’t know the question: “I need a free OWS to test! Which one should I take?” Since we are also repeatedly confronted with this question, we will make various services permanently available externally for testing purposes. A Sensor Observation Service (SOS), based on the 52north implementation, has also already been initiated and will be filled with real-world data in the next few days.
First successes in the migration from GeoExt to ExtJS 4 were also reported on the second day. Two base classes were migrated and various procedures were tested within the scope of the new possibilities of ExtJS 4.
