terrestris is pleased to announce that on Monday, July 20, 2009, two presentations submitted by Till Adams and Marc Jansen for this year’s FOSS4G conference were accepted by the local organizing committee.

Till Adams will give a presentation entitled “There is no alternative to OpenLayers…?” Marc Jansen will speak on the topic of “Comparing apples and oranges: Uncovering the mystery of component selection in WebGIS projects.” The exact presentation dates will be determined shortly.

FOSS4G (Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial) is the international conference for developers and users of free and open source software for the GIS sector. This year’s conference, which will take place “down-under” in Sydney, Australia from October 20 – 23, is themed “User Driven”. Until August 7, interested parties can register for the conference at the discounted “Early Bird” price in order to attend a total of 94 presentations, 10 workshops or 12 tutorials – all held by experts from around the world – at a special price.

The organizing committee received approximately 180 presentation proposals. First, the OpenSource GIS community was able to determine its favorites in an open voting process before the final selection of accepted presentations was made by the organizing committee around Cameron Shorter. The program compilation thus followed the year’s credo of “User Driven” in an exemplary manner.

The company terrestris will thus actively participate in the design of the international FOSS4G for the 5th time.
