In front of a “sold-out” house (the event was free for participants), representatives from cities and municipalities as well as from the private sector were informed by Till Adams (terrestris GmbH & Co. KG) and Dr. Horst Düster (Sourcepole AG, Switzerland) about the Open Source Desktop GIS “Quantum GIS (QGIS)”.

Jürgen Treptow, GIS Manager of the Soest city administration, presented the change of GIS in the Soest city administration, where Quantum GIS has also been used since 2010. The exemplary path should show the possibilities Quantum GIS offers and how costs, which arise from long-term maintenance contracts for proprietary desktop GIS solutions, can be reduced.
At the end, Mr. Düster presented the concept of “QGIS Enterprise”. This is a maintenance and support contract for the complete QGIS stack, which, in addition to normal support, also offers a manufacturer’s guarantee, which includes, among other things, unlimited bug fixing of the software.
QGIS Enterprise will be available in Germany via terrestris. Please contact us!
